Fairfax Media Newspaper Inserted Catalogues Research

The research aimed to understand the influence that newspaper inserts have on our readers’ path to purchase; explore the type and level of engagement that the Fairfax Media print audience have with newspaper inserts; and compare this level of engagement with mailbox catalogues.

The research uncovered some interesting findings:

  • Majority (83%) of Fairfax Media print readers read newspaper inserts, with 41% reading them at least weekly
  • There is a high level of engagement with newspaper inserts – of those who read them, close to half (46%) flick through all the pages
  • Newspaper inserts create interest and drive purchase – 48% and 41% visited a website or a store respectively, and a quarter purchased a product or service after viewing a newspaper insert in a Fairfax Media print publication
